The Department of Energy (DOE) has announced new regulations impacting gas-fired residential and commercial water heaters greater than 75,000 BTUs. Effective October 6, 2027, the manufacture or import of non-compliant units will no longer be permitted. Many traditional non-condensing models will be phased out and replaced with higher-efficiency alternatives.

You’ll still be able to purchase and install current-standard units after the deadline while inventory remains available. As these changes roll out, product availability and installation requirements will shift, but Hirsch will be here to support you every step of the way.
