The MSA-45 is used on the new R410 Mini Split systems that have the larger unique fitting on the service valve. The description of that fitting is 1/2 in ACME Male-20 UN. This adapter will screw onto the 1/2 in ACME Male-20 UN fitting and allow you to connect a standard 1/4 service hose to it.
